Cummins Inc. Validation Engineer in Mississauga, Ontario
We are looking for a talented Validation Engineer to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our # NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
This product focused position verifies and validates the functionality of Cummins’ products across a wide range of customer requirements, across a variety of applications, in various environments.
This work plans, tracks, and evaluates results from a wide range of analyses and functional tests to assess product risk and performance. These results are expected to drive quality decisions and proactively resolve product issues before the product reaches the customer.
Obtains input and negotiates with Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivers an optimized subsystem-based analytical and experimental verification plan to the program or project team.
Makes decisions in the areas of verification and validation that impact product performance, reliability, and durability.
Investigates and addresses potential system concerns or issues, understands causal mechanisms, recommends appropriate action, owns problem resolution and documents results with guidance from more experienced team members.
Identify and implement electro-mechanical engineering changes for improved manufacturability, cost reduction, and improved quality for product.
Validates product specification according to customer and/or productrequirements at a component, sub-system or system level.
Creates test plans from industry applicable standards.
To be a success in this role you will need;
University degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
Strong hands-on experience in designing and development of electromechanical prototypes and products.
7 years of experience in a similar role
Ability to create design verification plan and report (DVP&R), faultree analysis and iDFMEA.
Experience with shock and vibration equipment, salt mist chambers,anechoic chambers, airborne and structureborn acoustic testing, electromagneticcompatibility, solar arrays and/or environmental chambers is an asset.
Experience working with battery, fuel cell or hybrid technology is an asset.
An expert in the field of validation testing such as: shock and vibration, dyno testing & environmental testing.
Experience in “hands-on” development of electromechanical prototypes and fixtures.
Experience with electromechanical systems such as: pumps, blowers, sensors, valves and compressors.
Knowledge of data acquisition systems (DAQ), including associated DAQ sensors such as thermo couples and pressure transducers.
