Technical Project Manager - Engineering Solutions


We are looking for a talented Technical Project Manager - Engineering Solutions to join our team specializing in sales for our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Responsibility for all engineering and design execution matters on a customer project which could range in size from $500,000 to $20,000,000.

  • Manage projects starting at the project execution phase of the work.

  • Providing strategic project oversight and support to the engineering project delivery team.

  • Managing, coordinating, and administering one or more customer projects during all stages of the project lifecycle: from setup, execution, monitoring and controlling to final close out of the project.

  • Managing technical resources and participating on engineering solutions jointly with our general Project Management team and Engineering groups, acting as the customer’s engineering representative within the group.

  • Focusing on provision and enablement of engineering solutions for both our standard and complex projects, with project management participation varying from strictly providing engineering solutions to management of an entire project from sales handoff through final commissioning.

  • Taking accountability for the overall success of the customer project, delivering the project within the scope, cost and schedule baseline, and ensure that the project is delivered within the safety, quality and environmental best practices set out by Cummins and the client for the project.

  • Managing Cummins’ business interests, including: the prime contract, revenues, receivables, project viability and profitability.

  • Manage the project and its delivery process to meet the customer’s goals, objectives and expectations.

  • Advancing the state of the practice for Customer Engineering.

  • Proposing innovative customer-focused initiatives and projects.

  • Advising and transferring knowledge of customer focused engineering through coaching and mentoring engineering staff.

  • Definition of project scope and schedule during the sales process.


To be successful in this role you will need the following:


  • 5 years’ of engineering/technical experience in cross functional leadership roles including involvement in at least one significant industrial EPC/EPCM project.

  • Ability to lead a team and drive the project to completion.

  • Experience in leading a multi discipline project.

  • Experience in leadership, management and administrative processes.

  • Experience in engineering, procurement and construction, and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies. Broad knowledge of industry standards.

  • Strong customer/client focus.

  • Advanced safety awareness.

  • Ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders involved in projects (including internal and external clients).

Strong Leadership Skills/proven Leadership Skills And Abilities.

  • Ability to adapt to constant change and handle high pressure situations to support the team in meeting project objectives.

  • A high emotional quotient (EQ) that can be applied to motivate teams, increase team efficiency, and aid on conflict resolution.


  • Licensure as a professional engineer in a relevant Canadian province is highly preferred (or equivalent), designation as a Project Management Professional is an asset.
