Description
We are looking for a talented Applications Engineer to join our #NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.
The Electrolyzer Applications Engineer is the first technical point of contact between the Customer Engineering Solutions team and the customer. The main role of the Electrolyzer Applications Engineer is to act as the Voice of the Customer (VOC), interfacing between product, engineering solutions and sales teams, to provide technical options to a customer’s specific application and configuration.
This dual customer/product focused role requires the development technical specifications, implementation of new design configurations, and delivery of high performance, low-cost equipment and system configurations, integrated with customers’ needs in a variety of applications.
To be successful in this role the Applications Engineer must have a strong technical understanding of the Cummins range of electrolyzer products and product range, understand the customer’s technical needs and work with the sales, product, and business development teams to develop an appropriate product choice and configuration for the customer’s requirements within Cummins’ offerings.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
As part of the sales process, take ownership of customer technical requirements and response
Assist sales managers with product selection and configuration
Prepare the technical section of the customer proposal as part of the Cummins offer
Respond to technical aspects of customer RFIs and RFQs
Qualifications
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
Technical Customer Management - Represents Cummins to our customers by being the interface for all technical aspects; provides engineering data, documentation and training to customers to support the design and integration of equipment; ensures that the customer's business is not interrupted by managing Cummins' product changes through the use of our change processes and regular communications with Product Development and the customer.
Product Application Support - Ensures new product information is available by developing and managing accurate and complete technical content in a timely manner to support our customers and the business; provides new options through management of technical systems to support sales to all of our markets; defines installation requirements and develops innovative tools with in-depth, cross-system knowledge and industry experience for successful design and integration.
Machine Integration and Optimization - Combines various parts or sub-systems into a whole to achieve the output most desired by the customer; applies Cummins' installation requirements using our standard tools, processes and identified best practices to ensure optimization of performance, reliability, cost and quality; analyzes technical issues using proven problem-solving and troubleshooting techniques for rapid resolution.
Experience Required:
English/Spanish Bilingual (Strong asset)
Prior intermediate engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making
5 years of engineering experience
Experience with power or generation products and systems. Knowledge of hydrogen or similar gas systems is an asset
Ability to interact and work collaboratively with customer and supplier organizations and Cummins internal stakeholders
