Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyser Research Scientist
We are looking for a talented Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyser Research Assistant to join our team specializing in hydrogen fuel cell power systems technology for our # NewPower Business Unit in Mississauga, Ontario.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Sourcing, testing, validation and development of stack materials including membrane, MEA, GDM, electrodes, BPPs, flow geometry and stack hardware
Development of stack product platform for commercial applications
Responsible for design calculation of fluid thermodynamic properties include flow rate, temperature and pressure.
Responsible for design of detailed channel geometries including incorporating the results from CFD and FEA into the plate design process.
Coordinate stack product development and performance goals with commercial road map.
Perform product development of the electrolyser stack using phase-gate process.
Assist with funding proposal, work with funding agencies, monitor and report project progress.
Maintain environmental health and safety within the research laboratories.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering or Materials Science.
Experience in product design, prototyping, validation, or industrial research and development
Solid understanding of fluid thermodynamics, heat transfer, two phase flow and corrosion science
Strong material characterization skills (SEM, TEM, XRD, XRF, FTIR, etc)
Extensive experience of electrochemical diagnostic methods (EIS, CV, LSV etc...)
Excellent knowledge of Applied Electrochemistry and experience in designing and testing procedures for electrochemical systems and data interpretation
In depth understanding and experience of AST protocols for water electrolysers
Understanding of ASME pressure vessel code of construction
5 yrs R&D and experience in PEM fuel cell or water electrolysis. Industry experience is preferred.
